To become a member of Licking County CERT you must attend a CERT training course. CERT training is a 20 hour course that is conducted over an 8 week period. Class is one night a week and last around 2 1/2 hours.

Training is FREE!!

CERT has conducted training classes in Newark, Johnstown, Pataskala, and Hebron. CERT training is taught by experts that have many years of experience.

The training is divided into 8 segments.
1. Disaster Preparedness
2. Fire Suppression
3. Disaster Medical Operations - part 1
4. Disaster Medical Operations - part 2
5. Search and Rescue Operations
6. Disaster Psychology and Team Organization
7. Terrorism
8. Course Review and Disaster Simulation

Training classes generally have about 15-20 participants. Anyone can become a member of CERT. No matter what your age, skill, or background is, we can find a job for you!

CERT conducts several classes a year all over the county. If you are interested, please email Lori at LCEOC@Lcounty.com or you may call 740-670-5575.

After you complete the CERT training and become a CERT volunteer you will be given a backpack. Your backpack will include a helmet, CERT vest, gloves, flashlight, and several other items to help you during a disaster.

CERT members meet once a month for a meeting and training. These meetings are done throughout the county and last about 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
